Mail.com Update / Login errors

Updated Info per account settings,
received via email today.

Dear mail.com member,
We want to inform you about the new mail.com IMAP and POP3 settings.
Please update your email client configuration as soon as possible as your current settings
will no longer work due to a platform upgrade.
Please use the following settings to access your account:

IMAP SETTINGS:
Username/Email address: Use your full address
Password: Use your current password.
Account type: IMAP
Incoming (POP3) Server: imap.mail.com
Outgoing (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.com
Incoming port: 143
Outgoing port: 587

POP3 SETTINGS:
Username/Email address: Use your full email address
Password: Use your current password.
Account type: POP3
Incoming (POP3) Server: pop.mail.com
Outgoing (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.com
Incoming port: 110
Outgoing port: 587

The IMAP protocol is recommended instead of POP3 .

Sadly, GMX doesn't seem to handle IMAP IDLE, although it's supposed to
according to the GMX forum. When I switch back to imap.aol.com from
imap.mail.com, the push part immediately starts working again. Crap!

Televinken , thanks for the observation , this has been discussed :

although the above Mail.com Notice does not mention IDLE , PP will offer that service ,
but it will not work until a PP update , possibly on version 3.8 RC5 or RC6 .

It was also decided to have since now the instruction "IDLE as an optional selection" in the
PP FAQ and the Tutorial topic .

I'm sorry, I was a bit too quick posting what I did. It was merely a whining outbreak from me, over that push no longer works in my Android phone (Dell Streak).

I really don't find it necessary to have IMAP IDLE support in PP, since one can still have the
accounts checked as often as one could ever want. It's a bit different when it comes to phones/PDA's and tablets...

It's a bit different when it comes to phones/PDA's and tablets...

Well , looking only on the PP application , there are servers that refuse short checkmail intervals (so the recommended value is 15+ min) ; however , using IMAP-IDLE you may still get instant notifications .

There is even a way , if you have all PP accounts using IMAP-IDLE , to operate without auto checkmails (except by the one at PP startup) .

This will be fixed in the next v3.8 RC. imap.mail.com does support idle, but I'm not surprised that other clients don't handle it either. mail.com did not exactly execute it in the most efficient manner.

I haven't been able to get any emails today via PP from my 3 mail.com accounts and I wondered if anyone else was getting this. The error message is:
Login Error (Bad login. Incorrect name and/or password, please re-enter.)

No problem actually logging in to mail.com to get the emails.

Hi I am having the same problem since this morning 10:25 AM (GMT+1 time).
The Webmail acces is ok, but pop / imap is down.
Hope they gonna solve this very soon.

Update on the Mail.com IMAP Idle/Push matter;

I just noticed that my emails once again are being pushed to my phone instantly - WOHOO!
It seems that the owners (GMX) have decided to let us users have the push option back!
Just a small note, to those who might be interested....
